It is the newspapers at the grass-root level which NAI represents. Our role is not only to sustain and strengthen democracy, but also in building the nation. It essentially means participation of the people in day to day affairs of the State. It also means accountability to the people of all individuals and institutions who use public power and public resources.

NAI members can ensure the participation ot the people in the day to day affairs of the society by keeping them informed of what the village panchayats, taluka panchayats, municipalities zilla parishad, state government are doing, by voicing the grievances of the people through their columns, and by bringing them to the notice of the authorities, and by pursuing them till they are solved, by bringing to the notice of the people corruption, waste, inefficiency and negligence of the authorities, and also by goading the people to do all that they can to help build the nation.
